Each year, Transit Weekend provides our middle school students an opportunity to bond with their small group, invite new friends to experience our church, and strengthen their relationships with Jesus.

By hosting a small group in your home, you will play a vital role in our mission to help students discover and pursue a faith of their own. This in-town event would not be possible without hundreds of generous and welcoming people like you who open their homes to these students and leaders.

Transit Weekend 2025 will take place: January 31–February 2.

Requirements to consider before applying:

  • If you have a middle school- or high school-aged sibling in your home, we require that they stay elsewhere during the event.

  • If you are a single parent, we ask that you only apply to host groups of your same gender.

  • A background check is required for all adults who will be in your home during the weekend event.

  • You will need to prepare food for up to three meals and have snacks available during the weekend. We will reimburse your expenses.

  • You need to have a large space for the group to sleep in.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You’d be amazed at how many students can and will want to pile into one room! Basements or playrooms work great. Leaders should sleep in the same room with the students to keep an eye on them, so don’t worry if you don’t have a guest bedroom for the adult leaders. They don’t need it!

  • We suggest putting away any irreplaceable items, potentially dangerous items, movies with ratings of PG-13 and above, and any alcohol or tobacco.

  • No. This is time for small groups to bond and cultivate community. We ask that you and your family not participate during this time and that you allow the group to meet without you present.

  • The Small Group Leaders are responsible for transportation, but might ask you to help. They may need help Friday night, Saturday for the free-time activity, and for the final session on Saturday night.

  • One person per seatbelt. All students must be properly buckled at all times.

  • High school students, including high school Small Group Leaders, are not allowed to drive middle school students during Transit Weekend (even if they are 18). They can help by driving a car with luggage if needed. However, if you have a college-aged student at home, they can help with driving students.

  • Please see the meal and snack tips for information on food.

  • You will be reimbursed after submitting your receipts along with a reimbursement form.
